Wassily Chair

Revolutions in design are often driven by advancements in material and technology. Wassily Chair by Marcel Breuer is one of these with no doubts. Inspired by the bent form and strength of a bicycle metal handlebar, Breuer applied the same material and construction principles to chair design.

The Wassily Chair was originally known as the Model B3 Chair, but was later famous as the Wassily Chair in homage to Breuer’s friend and colleague at Bauhaus, Wassily Kandinsky, the 20th Century artist known as the father of abstract painting.
