Versatile Chairs and Coffee Table

Designed in 1950, it is also commonly known as the Wishbone Chair (owing to its wishbone-shaped backrest), or more industrially as the CH24 Chair. An agile and strong piece, the rounded back rails of the Wishbone Chair allow the human form to change and shift position. The cord seat is deliberately sunk towards the lower back, in order to allow the person to sit completely upright. Furthermore, the seat of the Wishbone Chair is deliberately lowered, allowing for both short and tall frames. Available in five wood finishes - maple, beech, ash, oak and walnut - the seat also comes in natural, black or white cord. A particular modern finish is created with the painted versions, of which thirteen colours are available. A truly timeless and adaptable piece, suitable for any home or office space. The back offers good support and most people feel comfortable in it for a longer period of time. The curved top rail makes it easy to move around and though the arm rests are long enough to give adequate support to your forearms, the chair can still be pushed in close to a table. Its design is easily recognizable and makes a great addition to your home. While its look seems simple, a closer look reveals an elegantly curved back and legs. It’s this attention to detail that helped this chair to become so popular.

“I want to design furniture that grows up out of the floor,” said Verner Panton. “To turn the furniture into something organic. Which never has four legs.” Pushing materials to their limits was a passion of this Danish architect and designer, who always approached design challenges in unconventional ways. His cantilevered stacking chair (1960) was the first single-material and single-form chair to be made, and it’s been continually improved and updated by Vitra through three decades of development in plastics technology. As striking as a modern sculpture, the Panton Chair is crafted into a single piece of strong, flexible polypropylene that’s wonderfully durable and easy to clean. Suitable for residential and commercial use.
